The State of PA has failed it’s citizens. Article 1, Section 27 of the Pennsylvania Constitution states, ”The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment. Pennsylvania’s public natural resources are the common property of all the people, including generations yet to come. As trustee of these resources, the Commonwealth shall conserve and maintain them for the benefit of all the people.”
Don’t Expect Protection is a backed by a loose group of people who are enraged by the Department of Environmental Protection’s egregious failure to protect Pennsylvania from the harms of natural gas production.
The development of this site was triggered in October 2011 when the PA DEP announced that Cabot Oil and Gas would no longer be obligated to supply clean drinking water to families in Dimock, PA, whose well water was severely contaminated by Cabot’s nearby gas wells.
As water deliveries to Dimock come to an end, this site will serve as a source of information on upcoming protests and other events. Stay tuned!
